Las dos cartas a los Corintios fueron escritas en Efeso los años 55-56 d.C. En Corinto Pablo estuvo un año y medio y fundó una comunidad numerosa y vivaz, compuesta principalmente de ex-paganos. Informado de los problemas que agitaban la comunidad, Pablo responde con una primera carta condenando las facciones surgidas entre los cristianos, ligados a varios predicadores (cf. 1 Cor 1,10-4,21); corrige vicios, entre los cuales hay un caso de incesto (cf. 1 Cor 5), y desordenes, en especial los comportamientos en la asamblea (cf. 1 Cor 7- 14); aclara dudas acerca de la resurrección de los cuerpos (cf. 1 Cor 15)."
