Tobie - Revised Standard Version (1966)
Le livre de Tobie a une visée morale, religieuse et didactique. Il commence par le récit de deux infortunes : celle de Tobie et celle de Sarra. Le plan révèle une architecture bien cadrée : prologue (1,1-2), personnages et situation (1,3-3,17), l'action (4,1-11,19), après l'action (12,1-13,18) et l'épilogue (14,1-15). Tout nous indique que l'auteur du livre n'écrit pas une histoire mais un récit à destinée morale ou religieuse. C'est un hommage à la Providence et un soutien à la théorie de la rétribution temporelle pour les justes. Il prône un monothéisme fervent et une fierté de l'élection.
