Daniel - Revised Standard Version (1966)

Daniel, pseudonyme emprunté à la Bible (Ez 14,14 28,3) par un auteur qui écrit directement et seul en réaction à la persécution d'Antiochus Epiphane (168). Deux parties successives : (1-6) les récits, ensemble disparates composés sur le mode du fantastique dont le héros est Daniel ; (7-12) les visions, ayant comme cadre la Palestine et en arrière fond la persécution des juifs et la profanation de l'autel des sacrifices. Dans sa version grecque de la Septante (LXX) ce livre est enrichi d'additions importantes : la prière d'Azarias, le cantique des trois jeunes hommes dans la fournaise 3, le récit de Suzanne et de Bel et le Dragon 13-14.
