Jérémie - Revised Standard Version (1966)
Jérémie, originaire d'Anatot près de Jérusalem, exerce son activité dans la capitale. Témoin et, peut être, agent de la réforme de Josias, son ministère commence en 627 on perd sa trace en Egypte, ses derniers oracles datent de 587. Le livre qui porte son nom est divisé en trois parties : (1-25) oracles contre Juda et Jérusalem ; (25-45) biographie du prophète, rédigé certainement par des disciples ; (46-52) oracles contre les nations dont le centre remonte à Jérémie. Les thèmes favoris de Jérémie sont la conversion du coeur, l'annonce de la nouvelle alliance Jr 31, la notion de responsabilité personnelle (un des traits marquants). Le judaïsme postérieur sera marqué par Jérémie (2M 15,12-16) et le Nouveau Testament en tirera des enseignements (Mt 2,17 2,27-29).
