Ebrei - Revised Standard Version (1966)
La lettera agli Ebrei è una predica dotta, messa per iscritto e inviata a cristiani di origine ebraica, che si lasciavano prendere dalla nostalgia per il culto fastoso del tempio di Gerusalemme ed erano tentati di disertare le assemblee cristiane per ritornare all'ebraismo. Ad essi l'autore dello scritto, un letterato colto d'Alessandria e buon conoscitore della Bibbia greca, rivolge un caldo invito alla perseveranza nella fede e nella vita cristiana. L'esortazione alla fedeltà (cf. Eb 10,19-13,24) è la conseguenza di un discorso teologico con il quale l'autore mette in evidenza la superiore dignità del Cristo nei confronti degli angeli (cf. Eb 1-2), la superiore efficacia del sacerdozio di Gesù nei confronti della mediazione di Mosè e del sacerdozio levitico anticotestamentario (cf. Eb 3- 7), la superiorità del culto, del santuario e della mediazione d'alleanza del Cristo sacerdote (cf. Eb 8,1-10,18).
