Luca - Revised Standard Version (1966)
Il Vangelo di Luca si deve a un cristiano di provenienza pagana, un colto ellenista che si rivolge ad ambienti cristiani di cultura greca. Egli chiama Gesù "il Signore": il titolo che la Chiesa attribuì al Cristo risorto e glorificato, lo stesso che l'Antico Testamento dava a Dio. Senza attenuare le esigenze di Gesù maestro e della sua chiamata, Luca testimonia soprattutto, con delicata finezza, la misericordia di Dio che si fa uomo per comunicare agli uomini la sua grazia, a cominciare dal perdono (cf. Lc 15). Peculiare è la sua sottolineatura della destinazione universale della salvezza in Cristo. In questa direzione vanno le parole di Simeone (cf. Lc 2,22), la genealogia di Gesù fatta risalire fino ad Adamo (cf. Lc 3,38), l'interesse di Gesù per i non Ebrei, come il samaritano assunto a simbolo dell'amore cristiano (cf. Lc 10,37), l'annunzio che "il perdono dei peccati e la conversione saranno predicati a tutte le genti" (Lc 24,47).
