Marco - Revised Standard Version (1966)

Marco, considerato in genere il racconto evangelico più antico (anteriore al 70 d.C.), si rivolge a cristiani di origine pagana. Il testo è attraversato da una domanda: Chi è Gesù? Ad essa risponde fin dall'inizio con un'affermazione perentoria: Gesù è il Cristo (Messia) atteso dagli Ebrei e il Figlio di Dio (cf. Mc 1,1). Questa tesi iniziale viene provata nel corso della narrazione, mettendo il lettore a contatto diretto con i gesti compiuti da Gesù, in particolare le molte guarigioni e l'accoglienza dei peccatori, attraverso cui svela progressivamente il mistero della sua persona: Servo sofferente e Figlio di Dio. Marco, più degli altri, è il vangelo del primo annunzio e insieme dell'itinerario del credente per arrivare alla fede piena in Gesù e alla condivisione della sua vita. Marco è il Vangelo della "sequela", del cammino del discepolo dietro e con il Maestro.
