GREETINGS OF THE CARDINAL
PREFECT
Today, December 8, 1998, on the
solemn Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we
consecrate a new service to Mary Most Holy.
As Prefect of the Congregation for
the Clergy, I wish to express my profound devotion
and my fervent thanks to His Holiness John Paul II,
Vicar of Christ and Successor of Peter, for his
constant care for all the Priests and Deacons in the
entire world and for the missionary impulse which he
gives to preaching and catechesis, in order to
confirm his bothers in the faith ,responding to the
moral and spiritual needs of men and women of our
time.
I place our modest collaboration into
the hands of the venerated universal Pastor.
I send my warm greetings in Christ to
my brother Bishops, Priests and Deacons, to the
catechists, to men and women Religious and to all
laymen and laywomen who, in the spirit of communion,
praiseworthily collaborate in spreading the Word of
God, revealed in Christ and offered by Him to all
generations, in his Church.
I offer this effort of the
Congregation for the Clergy to the Most Holy Mother
of God, in the daily effort of spreading the
knowledge and increasing appreciation of the ordained
ministry of Priests and Deacons and humbly and
faithfully serving the Word so that Jesus, Son of the
God, may be known, loved and followed.
With affection, I greet all catholics and
non catholics, believers and non-believers who honor
our "home page" with their interest.
You are all most welcome!
