CLOSING SPEECH
by
The most Reverend Eminence Cardinal
Darío Castrillón Hoyos
Prefect for the Congregation of the Clergy
At the thirteenth videoconference
"The Church and inter-religious dialogue"
From the Holy See, November 27th 2002
Today’s theological meditations have shown the Church’s presence and concern in travelling, with all men of good will, the fraternal path of hopeful dialogue towards the knowledge of truth, the truth personified in Jesus Christ (see Dialogue and Proclamation, no. 40, Document by the Pontifical Council for inter-religious dialogue and the Congregation for the Evangelization of People, Bulletin no. 77, 1991).
Remembering the numerous significant and also recent events involving inter-religious dialogue, such as the two meetings held in Assisi on October 27th 1986 and on January 24th this year, let us remember with the words of Saint Augustine that we must move towards the Lord "not only walking but also loving, and then in the measure that the love that leads us to Him is pure the closer God will be to our hearts. (…) Not with feet therefore, but with good habits it is possible to move towards He who is ever present" (See Letter 155, 4, 13: NBA XXII, p. 574).
I would like to announce that next month on Friday December 13th at 12 A.M. during the fourteenth videoconference we shall hold a theological discussion on the subject of "Christian spirituality".
Once again thank you all and arrivederci.
